Educational Foundation Awards Over $31,000 in Teacher Grants

The C-FB ISD Educational Foundation, as well as the businesses and individuals who support it, believes that innovative and creative approaches to teaching can benefit C-FB ISD students. To this end, the Foundation developed the Grants-To-Teachers Program. This program, with its emphasis on innovative projects and creative teaching approaches, provides funding, not otherwise available, up to $3,000 for projects which have a potential to enhance student learning. In 2010, the Educational Foundation awarded $31,771.16 in grants-to-teachers.

Grants

Grants-To-Teachers Program
Teachers in the C-FB ISD interested in applying for a Teacher Grant may download an application form .  Please note that each portion of the application has been given a value. This not only gives you an idea of how the committee will consider your application, but also allows the committee to more equably evaluate it.

The Grants and Scholarships Committee's goal is to select projects for funding which are innovative and stimulate students' learning and creativity by enhancing the existing curriculum.  To ensure anonymity during the selection process, the committee members will not have access to applicants' names.  For this reason, please do not refer to the name of your campus anywhere within the application.  Consideration will also be given as to how compatible the project is with the goals and objectives of C-FB ISD and whether or not the application reflects advance planning and preparation. Expenses for consumable and single events must be justifiable. The Foundation will not fund routine field trips, food or monetary awards to students.

Projects funded are evaluated to determine the successful achievement of the stated objectives and to consider the possibility of replication for other schools. The evaluations of the funded projects will be provided to the Board of Directors of the Educational Foundation. This information will be shared with school district personnel.

Campus Grants
The Campus Grants program provides funding to an individual school up to $5,000. Grants of $5,000 each may be awarded in three categories - elementary, middle school and high school.

The purpose of the Campus Grant is to:

  • Provide financial assistance for schools to substantially improve student achievement.
  • Implement comprehensive school improvement programs that are based on reliable research and effective program practices, which include an emphasis on basic academics and parent involvement.
  • Stimulate school-wide changes rather than a fragmented approach to reform.
  • Support program aims that enable all children to meet challenging district content and student performance standards.

Information for preparing the application and the application form for this program is available for download. It is essential that directions and procedures be followed. It is important for the goals and objectives of the applications to address one or more of the goals and objectives of the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District.

Projects funded are to be evaluated to determine the successful achievement of the stated objectives and to consider the possibility of replication for other schools. The evaluations of the funded programs will be provided to the Board of Directors of the Educational Foundation. This information will also be shared with school district personnel.
